Welcome to this month’s SPM newsletter. Thanks for taking a moment to catch up with what has been happening with our project partners in Myanmar.

Our focus this Christmas is on bringing hope and light to communities. Due to frequent and worsening power cuts, the school in the urban informal settlement struggle with lack of light in the classrooms and clinic. This Christmas we are raising funds to help buy solar panels, batteries and lights. Another way you can bring hope and light in this community is by giving a gift towards education supplies. Or you can give towards medical supplies for the remote clinics run by Earth Mission.

Even in the darkest times, light still shines. Help light up a school, clinics, and hearts in Myanmar this Christmas.

OUR PROJECTS

Health for the Hidden

In October, Earth Mission celebrated 10 years as a nonprofit foundation in Thailand. This was when their Physician Associate and Engineering Technology training programs started. It's incredible how these programs have grown over the last decade - in 2016, 13 students were enrolled and now in 2025, 94 students are enrolled. Congratulations to all the staff, students and volunteers at Earth Mission on this amazing achievement.

These are the numbers of patients seen last month. 106 of 485 outpatients seen at RTC were children under 5. As the rainy season finishes roads will begin to reopen which means the fighting is predicted to get worse. Pray for wisdom and protection for all patients, students, staff, and families.

Community Care

The children at the school in the urban informal settlement celebrated Thadingyut (Festival of Lights) by making lanterns and stars. They had a short break at the end of semester 1 and now classes have started back for semester 2.

Food insecurity is becoming much more prevalent as inflation continues to soar. 375 households in the informal settlement received 8kgs of rice - a small gift, but a huge blessing and encouragement for these vulnerable households.

The Election - Myanmar’s military announced plans for the first general election since they seized power in 2021 which is to be held over December and January. This is considered both illegal and illegitimate. Pray that Myanmar will be transformed into a true representational democracy where the rights of all are upheld.
